Wheels refurbished when I bought the car in 2021 that had some service history on 79,000 miles.
My intention was to keep the car so I spent around 8K getting the car into tip top mechanical condition so it would be reliable. Bearing in mind the car was then 19 years old. So mainly preventative maintenance, rear brake pipes, front and rear suspension, air conditioning a new OEM exhaust etc. The work was carried out by Porsche specialists Wrightune in Wallingford.
I then added an aftermarket relay fitted by Wrightune to enable the roof to go up and down while the car was moving at up to 19 MPH. A new soft hood was fitted to the car shortly before I bought it. Fully serviced it as per its manufacture requirements including the gearbox oil and filter. The alarm system was completely replaced with a new one from Porsche in Germany and I replaced both keys with new ones as the old ones were looking a bit tired. This cost me a further 2 k.
in 2023 I bought a newer 991.2 Turbo S with the intention of selling this 996 Carrera. However I have to say that although the Turbo S certainly looks the part… it doesn’t drive like a sports car notwithstanding its a lot quicker. Its not as sexy as the Carrera and even by today’s standards it doesn’t exactly hang about for what is now a 23 year old car.
This car that I am now selling is due a service despite it having done less than 3000 miles since the last. So in light of that I am prepared to knock a bill off the asking price to reflect that. The cherished plate is not included in the asking price and I will sell that separately or put it on retention.
The car also has an aftermarket sound system which has bluetooth connectivity for my phone. It also has a dash cam which is handy should you be unfortunate enough to have an accident which wasn’t your fault. The front seats are heated which was an extra upon delivery from new. Everything works on the car as it should.
If this is your first 911 then whether you buy this one or another you need to be looking to spend between 18-24 k to get a decent one. Sadly there is no such thing as a cheap Porsche. Ultimately you get what you pay for buy one for 10 or 12k and expect to have to spend another 10 to 12 k on it.
This car has recently had a new battery fitted as well. I am not in a hurry to sell the car, so by all means have a look at a few others to see what they have to offer before you look at mine, just to satisfy yourself that mine is as good as I say it is.
